Dear Reader

Every now and then, we receive some of your letters, in which you express your astonishment as for not focusing on the current political issues concerning the political and military struggle against our enemies. Moreover, some even complain that the magazine does not discuss controversial issues among the Muslims themselves, which is leading regretfully to some bloody conflicts in more than one of our Muslim regions, while others feel that we should not "neglect" or fail to give special prominence to our most respected leaders, as well as active Islamic movements, and viable causes.

In this respect we wish first of all, to express our understanding and appreciation to these feelings and opinions, as well as underlining the fact that we agree with them on the necessity of discussing the issues that are vital to the Muslims life and future, but we wish to draw the attention of our brothers to the tasks the magazine has taken on itself to achieve, which is confined in the calling and cultural aspects.

Such a Mission includes shedding light upon and clarifying the various doctrinal issues, which all the Islamic Nation agrees on its importance and significance. We avoid only the minor controversial current issues and this is only because they lie outside the scope of our magazine, and because other Islamic Magazines and periodicals are specialized in covering these fields.

Finally, we hope that our readers will appreciate our position not to touch on these issues that may have a negative effect on the magazine's concerns and role.

THE RISING OF IMAM AL-HUSSAIN (A.S):

ROLE MODELS AND MORAL LESSONS

In the Islamic history, many are the events but few have impacted the Muslims’ lives and conditions as the revolution staged by Imam al-Hussain (A.S) has, mobilizing the masses towards him and his objectives despite the attempts of some people who in all times and climes oppose reform. It was a rising for correcting a serious deviation that took place in the Islamic creed and nation, to resist the horrible injustice and corruption of the Umayyads, a rising that gloriously culminated in the most immortal epic of heroism in history on the 10th of Muharram of the 61st Hijri year, coinciding with the 10th of October according to the Julian calendar or the 13th of the month according to the Gregorian calendar of the year 680 A.D.

This glorious revolution defies time, keeps illuminating the path of all those who revolt against oppression, remaining as lofty as the day when it took place, loudly echoing its message, causing the faithful to more and more cling to al-Hussain (A.S) as the label of jihad, support for the right cause and encountering falsehood. It inspires the souls to be anxious about supporting and promoting the lofty principles and goals for which Imam al-Hussain (A.S) sacrificed himself and his precious companions.

Every year, allegiance is renewed to this grandson of the Prophet 5 in all lands of the earth and by millions of those who are loyal to him and to his principles, an allegiance which they express with tears for his great tragedy, for the nation’s loss of such a precious Imam and leader, turning into a loud cry for everyone to tread his sacred path despite the blood shed by the enemies of Allah and of humanity whose hearts are filled with grudge and animosity and who hate to see millions of processions expressing such allegiance. The shout of “Is there anyone to support us?!” is met by “Labbayk ya Aba Abdillah!” Here we are, O father of Abdullah! It is the call of everyone who opposes Yazid’s falsehood and who believes in and promotes the noble principles and objectives of the revolution of the Father of Freemen (A.S).

The Fasting Individual, and the Fasting Nation,

“… A month in which you are invited to the hospitality

of Allah Almighty” – The Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h)

Is there a greater honoring, a loftier status than man, a weakling, aspiring to be

surrounded by the care and attention of the Creator of the cosmos and of life, the

Initiator, magnanimous is His Greatness?! This happens when the most Praised

and Exalted One issues an open annual invitation to His believing servants to help

themselves to His mercy-giving perfect tables, surrounded with honors and dignity

during exceptional days that extend all the blessed month of Ramadan. During these

days, they enjoy abundant mercy, boons and gifts which the most Lofty and Great One

specifically allots for those who truly respond to His great call, for those who endeavor

to be among the recipients of His mercy and forgiveness.

This month is the one in which Allah Almighty, out of His mercy, opens the gates of His

Gardens and closes the gates of His fire, doubling the rewards, according to one hadith

by the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h). It is the most precious opportunity which the most

Praised One allows for His servants so they may focus on fortifying themselves from

inclinations that mislead and desires that cause one to perish, so they may work to train

themselves on fearing the hated things which time may bring about, then to rise above

them, to subdue them with acts of obedience, of seeking nearness to Allah, so they may

become liable to earning the Pleasure and love of the Almighty.

No matter what the limited hardship suffered by a fasting believer may be, as a result of

being required to perform this obligation in this blessed month, it is little and negligible

compared to what Allah, the most Praised One, has promised His pious worshippers:

prizes, favors and gifts to those who fast, those who stand for prayers, and those who

work for His cause particularly in this great month.

Happy is one who responds to the call of Allah Almighty in this month and acts

according to the etiquette of hospitality and to its requirements towards his Creator, the

most Exalted One. Let one be truly observing the fast, not just contend himself with the

appearance and formality of the fast, as is the case with most people who misunderstand

and who erroneously apply. Rather, he must exert himself to reach the essence of the

fast and thus achieve his private and public objectives as well as environment as is

required of him. This is revealed in a famous sermon by the Greatest Prophet (p.b.u.h)

which he delivered at the beginning of this month. Its wonderful implications explain

the foundations and objectives of the fast, linking it to the comprehensive message of

Islam. It did not address only the fasting individual; rather, it provided directions and

incentives for the fasting nation in all its groups and entities to rise in the ladder of

iman, in its relationship with Allah, the most Praised One, and to rise in the general

responsibilities towards itscomponents, human and social segments, in everything that

achieves its fortitude and cohesion, in its presence among the nations. This is what

Islam and the Qur’an call for.

If piety against committing prohibitives is the label and the most prominent objective

of this blessed sermon, how can we explain the violating of the greatest of prohibitions,

namely spreading blind sedition, the killing of respectful souls and the corruption in the

land in this and in other months, while all of this is unfortunately accepted by those who

raise the slogans and banners of the creed?!

Fatima: The Greatest Truthful One (peace with her),

and the Depository of the Secret

The As narratives vary about the historic events of the birth and martyrdom of the Head

of the Women of the World, the portion of the greatest Prophet (p.b.u.h), Lady Fatima al-

Zahraa (peace with her), both months of Jumada al-Ula and Jumada al-Akhira embrace these

occasions which are the focus of attention and interest of all believers who know al-Zahraa’s

lofty status and position and the sublime sacred House of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) to which she

belongs, one of the honorable corners of which is her own self. The Greatest Prophet (p.b.u.h)

only spoke on behalf of the Creator, the most Exalted, the most Great, when he demonstrated

his daughter’s lofty status, that of al-Zahraa (peace with her).

The Prophet (p.b.u.h) explained each of her merits, characteristics and nearness to Allah

Almighty in statements and descriptions which he never bestowed on anyone else: She is the

human huri, the greatest truthful one (siddeeqa), the head of the women of the world, the mother

of her father: “She is part of me; whoever loves her loves me, and whoever hates her hates

me,” he (p.b.u.h) said. Besides these statements, there are other numerous ones. All this proves

that al-Zahraa (peace with her) is not like other women; rather, she is a woman for the sake of

Allah Almighty Who uses her for a decree, a purpose. She is the one whose name was chosen

by the revealed wahi (inspiration), assigning her marriage to the Imam of the Pious, Ali (peace

with him), specifically chose her for the offspring of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and attaching them

all restrictively to her: She is the mother of both of his grandsons, namely al-Hassan and al-

Hussain (peace with them), the two fragrant flowers of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), the grandmother of

the chain of light from among the Imams of guidance, the flag posts of all people, till their last,

the Qa’im of Ahl al-Bayt (peace with them), the Just, the Awaited One (a.s).

Despite her short sacred lifespan, which is also filled with events and legacies, the movement

of her personal and family life, her general Message-related stances that are filled with wisdom

in the shade of her father’s lifetime and immediately after his departure to the Supreme

Companion…, she is seen as being set aside for chosen roles in which the Divine management

is seen quite clearly. Therefore, she had her own impact and great influence not only within the

sphere of her time but in all following epochs and generations that extend beyond it.

At the time when we express our pleasure on the occasion of her blessed birth anniversary,

and with the atmospheres of grief on the occasion of her painful martyrdom, we nowadays so

badly need to deeply contemplate on the stations of her enlightening life, on her legacy which

is rich with lessons and perfections, on benefitting from them to endeavor to correct and bring

back our life’s paths to the right track, to make them closer to Allah Almighty and to render

them more in harmony with the principles and rules of the easy-to-implement Islamic faith.

This faith was crowned by the father of al-Zahraa, the greatest Prophet (p.b.u.h), and which

was firmed by the Imams of righteousness and justice: her husband, the pleased wasi (peace

with him) and the righteous descendant Imams (peace with them all). Here, correcting is

more badly and persistently needed on the level of the Muslim women and young ladies. The

groups of evil, corruption and cheap worldly ambitions, that are aggravating in our societies,

endeavor to let them both swerve from the paths of straightforwardness and dignity which

easy Islam provides for them, and to take them to the pitfalls of loss and futility with the

claims of the fake glitter of “civilization.”

In the presence of the supreme siddeeqa (peace with her) in our minds, the symbol and the

role model, we trust that her dazzling perfections and the secret that is deposited in her shall

remain the living source of inspiration and the catalyst for all sincere ones to actively face the

origins of corruption and futility and to endeavor to repel and curb them all.

GIFTED MERCY

The most Exalted One and the most Great has outlined a magnanimous mission for His

Glorious Messenger (p.b.u.h) in accordance with this Qur’anic verse: “We have sent you

only as mercy to the worlds.” The Master of Messengers identified himself with this radiant

statement: “I am the gifted mercy,” a shining label that was attached to both his honorable life

and mission, a lighthouse for his most supreme Jihad during his holy lifetime and a binding

call from him that obligates every Muslim across the centuries to follow in his footsteps.

We recollect this shining statement in its description of the fact about the Prophet of mercy

and Imam of guidance (p.b.u.h) as we welcome the anniversary of his holy birth, this

fragrant occasion for which the heart of every believer yearns, one who is overwhelmed by

love for the Chosen One (p.b.u.h).

This precious occasion, in its symbolism and indication, is not looked at as being only the

anniversary of a great man whom Allah Almighty treasured in order to seal prophecies and

messages that save humanity, but because with him, it witnessed the birth of a nation that

extends across the generations, one which Allah, Glory to Him, made “the best nation sent to

mankind” so long as it upholds its religion and adheres to the guidance of its Prophet (p.b.u.h).

Love for the revered Prophet (p.b.u.h) and his pure Ahl al-Bayt (a.s) and the acceptance

of their mastership is by itself a creed, a divine imposition and a criterion for the extent

of true commitment and piety. Showing elation and excitement on this merry occasion

and celebrating it in an appropriate and suitable way, while remembering the merits of

the Messenger (p.b.u.h) and his honorable characteristics, is desired and needed. But what

is the most persisting and interesting on this occasion and at all times is remembering the

divine way of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), applying with it the realistic and constructive teachings

in various aspects of our private and public life and on all levels and fields, individuals and

societies, regimes and States. It is only thus that we become worthy of being affiliated with

this Prophet (p.b.u.h) and with the religion which he brought in order to save humanity from

misguidance, ignorance and oppression. It is only then that we win the goodness of this life

and that of the life to come based on the logic of the comprehensive mercy which stamps

the message of Islam and the way of its Great Prophet (p.b.u.h).

“Those who show mercy to others are shown mercy by Allah.” “Show mercy to those on

earth, you will receive mercy from the One in the heavens.” Do we find this creed to be that

of the Muslims as they treated each other in the past and as they do so during the critical

phase through which we are now living? Undoubtedly, there are bright areas along this level

of Islam’s history and in the life of the Muslims, especially among the sincere ones who

prefer to obey Allah Almighty and His Messenger (p.b.u.h) over anything else.

But rarely do we find this to be the conduct and action of most of those who control the

destiny of the land and of the Almighty’s servants in the past and at present from among

those who hold the reins of power, or those who monopolize the public and private riches, or

even by the Takfiri and abrogating groups that proliferate these days. We are still witnessing

more beheadings, curtailing the livelihood for the simplest reasons. These heinous actions

have now become a quite common scene in the reality which we live. What is the most

absent from such tragic practices are the tolerant teachings of Islam and the way of the

Prophet of mercy (p.b.u.h).

May Allah Almighty guide everyone to the light of His love and pleasure.

Ashūra: Sacrifice and Devotion

Whenever Muharram’s Crescent approaches every year, the world assumes another

form and hue: From the expanse of their domains, the souls of the free and the hearts

of the faithful, with all their overflowing sentiments of love and loyalty, with all the

pain that squeezes them and the agony, yearn to the Kerbala highland in order to inhale

from its dewy soil the aroma of martyrdom, the fragrance of heroism and sacrifice.

The warmth of the martyrdom of the fragrant flower of the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h),

Imam Al-Hussain (A.s), and that of his Ahl al-Bayt (A.s) and righteous companions

keeps being reborn in their sides, flowing in their veins, for “There is warmth in the

killing of al-Hussain in the hearts of the faithful that will never cool down.”

It is the same warmth of conviction, fealty and following that strongly pushes them

towards the pure Ahl al-Bayt (A.s) and their straight path, those where Allah, the most

Exalted One, placed His Message, making them, rather than all other people, the

depository of His secret and the custodians of His revelation and creed.

It is Ashūra, then, which the anguished passionate lovers of the grandson of the

greatest Prophet (p.b.u.h), the twig of Ali and al-Zahra, peace with them both, bring

back to memory every year from the time it took place and where it happened. They

do so in order to live its facts and unique courses one moment by one. They look with

the eyes of reason and heart to the epic of the victory of righteousness of al-Hussain

(A.s), the man who was armed with the force of conviction and righteousness, with

surrendering to the will of Allah Almighty, over the falsehood of Yazid who was fully

armed with evil and tyranny, sunk in crime up to its scum, even if the black outcome

was the stabbing of the heart of the most honored Prophet (p.b.u.h) who said: “Hussain

is of me, and I am of Hussain,” and the violating of his sanctity.

It is to the mother of tragedies, the heroine of Kerbala, wise Zainab, peace with her,

that the faithful who follow al-Hussain (A.s) direct their attention from everywhere,

agonizing for her anguish, carrying out with enthusiasm her brave statement to the

tyrant: “By Allāh! You will never be able to obliterate our mention, nor will you

ever kill our inspiration!” Thus, they exchange fealty with her while bringing back to

memory in an ever greater and distinctive way the Ashūra rites, the embracing of her

immortal message, the disseminating of her principles and objectives.

With his great martyrdom and brilliant stances, Imam al-Hussain (A.s) set up the

indisputable argument against anyone who is skeptical or hesitated between choosing

either the path of the truth or that of falsehood, and against anyone who trades his

religion for his world or for the creed of anyone else. The echo keeps reverberating

in time’s ears, urging everyone who has lost his way, so he does not see the truth, or

one who is at peace with injustice and deviation, no matter what his field or level may

be, to reconsider his position and look at the clear light of the truth which al-Hussain

(A.s) and those in his company represented. It is only then that this nation’s condition

becomes straight and its matter is reformed according to the will of Allāh Almighty

and to that of His most revered Messenger (p.b.u.h).

In conclusion, we submit the signs of grief and condolence to the one who demands

retribution for al-Hussain’s blood, namely Allah’s greatest remnant, the Imam of the

Time and Age, Imam al-Mahdi, and to all free and faithful believers.

Month of Allah Almighty Between Two Trades

Great Every year, the crescent of the month of Ramadan comes to bring with it glad tidings

and happiness to the hearts of the faithful who are always eager to welcome the month of

repentance, forgiveness, mercy and the Pleasure of Allah, the very best of all months, their

greatest in status with Allah, according to the Greatest Prophet. They are eager for its good

companionship, for the bliss of generous Divine hospitality. During it, the most Merciful

One spreads His distinguished tables, prizes and boons which extend and expand to cover

all days, nights and hours of this month. These overwhelm all those who take advantage of

this precious opportunity, who labor and work hard in fighting the evil insinuating nafs

النفس الأمارة بالسوء , the lowly desires. They seek nearness to Allah, the most Exalted One,

through types of adoration, acts seeking nearness to Him, acts of the Sunna, of goodness, of

kindness; all are stated [in sacred books] and are highly commendable.

In contrast with this winning trade with Allah Almighty which the faithful are keen

about seizing its opportunity in this blessed month, there are other types of people who

mischievously seize opportunities and wait for occasions, even the holy religious ones such

as the blessed month of Ramadan. The latter are heedless of violating the month’s sanctity, so

they practice their special trade with Satan and with misleading desires either for prohibitive

material gain or to spread and promote misguidance and objectives that contradict religious

and ethical values. There are those who take advantage of many people’s inclination for

entertainment or meet or visit with their kin, something which Islam encourages in this

blessed month, to turn it into a feeding ground for Satan, for corruption and suspicious

things. This is what goes on during night parties and in what is labeled as deviated

Ramadan evenings which attract many people. But the most serious role in this regard is

what many satellite television channels do through the flood of items and series that contain

deviated ideologies and scenes which tempt one towards a crooked conduct, poisoning the

atmospheres of many families during this special month. What makes it worse and more

dangerous is using this glorious month to show series that are called religious, yet their goal

is cheap material gain: They are for the desired excitement for promotion. They depend on

historic narratives and scenarios that contain many misleading doubts, doctrinal and historic

confusion. This increases the confusing of the minds of viewers that are not immune.

One of the most important new works on this level has been stirred by a series shown by

many Arab satellite stations. It was produced by Al-Maha, a Kuwaiti company, and it is

titled “Al-Hassan, al-Hussain and Mu’awiyah”. This televised series has created a big noise

and also drawn denunciation and objection by many Islamic religious authorities from

various sects as well as from intellectual and public circles due to its unprecedented daring

in personifying the characters of both holy Imams. It has been rejected particularly by Al-

Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy which bans its licensing because it abuses both fragrant

flowers of the Messenger of Allah through the medium of Mu’awiyah and his son Yazid.

Its goal is to justify the latter’s deviations and cover up their crimes against Islam. This

televised series contains many fallacies, historic and religious distortions. There must be

warning against these fallacies, and people’s attention must be attracted to their ills. This

raises questions about the status of looseness and chaos in licensing such actions which

create problems and differences, things which we do not need. Also, this question forces

itself: Why is there no initiative to put together a specialized board from among official

entities in the Arab and Islamic countries to oversee religious and ideological activities and

monitor such controversial actionSs in order to avoid their negativities instead of leaving them

to whims and contradictory views?

May Allah Almighty accept the fast of those who observe it; may He accept their prayers and

grant them rewards without count.

“Spread Glad Tidings, do not Alienate”

Great has been the eagerness of believers who are conscientious about the purity of Islam’s

march, shiny image, safety of the Muslim generations whose vulnerability and future are

threatened, so they may have a real presence on the media field, for means and scopes

of persuasion in our Islamic world and in the greater world. This field was in the past a

monopoly of the hostile or indifferent media, the media that is corrupt and is corrupting the

beliefs, values and heritage. We must finally praise Allah Almighty and assist those who have

good initiatives on this level. The latter have been granted success in the few past years to fill

some of the vacuum in this vital field. They have launched a number of satellite television

channels, radio stations and Internet web sites that carry as a whole the ideology of Islam and

its message, defending its values and the expectations of its generations to find enlightened

stable societies and clean environments that are free of the intrusion of incoming deviated

concepts and norms of conduct. Appreciating most of these news media, podiums, Islamic

educational and guiding sites does not clash with expressing some constructive critical

remarks and directions which we may submit here in order to fortify them and develop

their presentation and methodology, the way they deal with segments of people, especially

towards respecting the views and particularities of those who differ from them.

Yet it has never been expected, nor has it ever been anticipated or at all accepted, that

any entity should speak on behalf of Muslims by taking advantage of this serious field to

turn it into a launching pad for what is supposed to be the dissemination of awareness and

true knowledge, the call for love and solidarity among the Muslims, between them and

their citizens. There have been such entities that have turned their podiums into tools for

spreading the venoms of divisiveness, hatred, slander and attack of “others” only because

the latter differ from them with regard to a particular sect, ideology or religious orientation.

This provides the atmosphere and grounds for extremist calls to abolish and to undertake

horrific physical liquidations that are actually in existence in many Islamic countries.

This is what two Arab satellite television stations are now known to be undertaking, both

clothing themselves with the Islamic garb. So do many Internet sites... All these channels

and sites are motivated by stagnant mentalities of those who espouse contemptible Takfiri

orientations. They employ demagogic methods, fabrications and the turning of facts upsidedown.

Their goal is to mislead their viewers and recipients, taking them to positions of

hostility towards the followers of the creed of Ahl al-Bayt specifically. We do not know what

these folks will achieve in the end from their odd and resented behavior other than realizing

the hopes of the enemies of Islam and Muslims.

We are on the side of all those who are adorned with a true conscience, and these are the

majority in all Islamic sects, in our call on these folks to rethink their deviated behavior,

to fear Allah Almighty in His religion and servants, to be concerned about the unity and

strength of the nation of the Messenger of Allah who has said to the likes of these folks:

“Spread glad tidings; do not alienate.”

Despite all of this, these folks are too weak to obliterate the shining facts, or to harm the

lofty mountains. The outcome of their actions, if Allah Almighty so wills, will be nothing

but loss and the realization of the opposite of their goals, as the facts and reactions among

people have already proven. They are similar to the axiom expressed by an Arab poet who

said. If Allah wants to spread a buried virtue. He will provide it with a jealous tongue anew.

So, what would you say if one who has this tongue is wanton and a fabricator?!

DAY OF RETRIBUTION

To start with, a salutation is due for the youthful revolutionary spirit in the Arab

world which has surprised everyone with its vitality, courage, organization, speed and

greatness of historic achievements.

A great salutation is also due for the souls of this uprising’s victims, martyrs and

the wounded who have widely opened through their sacrifices the door to remove

the prepetrators rulers and their henchmen. The latter have ruled the land and its

inhabitants for too long, depicting the most horrible portrait about the shape of an

oppressive ruler who takes his people hostage of his ambitions and false aspirations.

In our haste, we would like to point out to some doubts and hidden questions which

have been raised and to which attention has been drawn by the resounding scenes of

the fall of rulers’ thrones and their hoodlums that quickly disappeared before the rage,

shaking the masses of Arab nations. For so long, these masses have been moaning

under the weight of the rulers’ oppression and suppression. They suffered a great deal

because of the latter’s corruption, scandalous thefts and waste of the land’s resources

under shiny and deceptive slogans and labels. The eruption of suppressed outrage

came at the right moment, guaranteeing to turn the scene upside down and draw a

humiliating end for these oppressors and their followers so the “day of retribution”

may be tougher than the day when the oppressor oppresses, as Imam Ali (P.B.U.H) has

said. There are now harbingers of the removal of monumental symbols of oppression

and corruption, and there is hope that true change processes will take place for the

better and the most sound in the rest of countries that suffer from similar conditions

rather than superficial cosmetic operations. Our Arab and Islamic countries deserve

responsible rulers and officials who enjoy credibility, competence and integrity,

individuals who set out from whatever the believing and ethical nation regards as

being taken for granted, people who serve the goals and ambitions of their generations.

Such people are the ones who safeguard this nation’s resources and riches for the sake

of their peoples’ progress, development and protection from the interference of the

exploiting covetous foreigner.

If the achievement of the removal of corrupt rulers and of holding them accountable

for what they have committed, and in order to recover what they had stolen, by itself a

greatly appreciated achievement, the supreme task and the greatest challenge remain

in finding certain mechanisms, formulas and systems. The latter ensure the rise of new

sincere leaderships that do not bear the negativities of their predecessors and keep

safeguarding the interests of their peoples and their sacrifices.

This is an important and a great mission which the youths must follow-up together

with sincere activities from all groups with full seriousness and keen interest.

Here we would like to emphasize the role of the enlightened theologians in supporting

and protecting these aspirations due to their message-inspiring position: They are

“the custodians of Messengers”, as the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H) has said. They

are the ones from whom Allah Almighty took a covenant that they “endorse neither

an oppressor’s hold on power nor the cowering of any oppressed person,” as Ali

(P.B.U.H) has said. It should be nice to point out in this process to the massive scene of

the Friday congregational prayers in all the meanings and connotations which they

express: This has been the distinctive denominator among the courtyards of these

victorious uprisings.

Dear Reader,

Islam between the arrows of enemies and fools

There are many poisonous arrows that are directed these days

at Islam, targeting its creed, Sharia, heritage and symbols, especially

our beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The enemies

of faith, truth and good among some Westerners imagine that

with those reprehensible actions of theirs, such as the outrageous

cartoons insulting the Greater Apostle (PBUH), the stupid

call to burn the Holy Quran; and the massive information campaigns

against Islam in universities, clubs, streets and media in

the US and other countries that have been recently carried out

by extremist hateful groups imagine that via all those provocations

and insults to the Muslims’ sanctities and symbols, they

can do harm to the greatness of Islam and the power of its

bright presence and continuous spread in their own countries.

Here, it can be said that the hostile campaigns aimed at distorting

the image of Islam in the hearts of Westerners in order to

corner the faith have contributed in unifying the various groups

of Muslims that sought to detect, respond and reduce the impact

of those campaigns. However, what still stirs up pain and portends

threats more than the plots that are being set in the outer

world is this obsessive internal distortion of the image of Islam,

besides seeking to provoke moving crises, which is being done

on a large scale by the groups of Takfir and blind extremism.

Driven by their limited horizon and ignorance of the true rules

of Islam, these groups resort to atrocities and bloodshed against

Muslims who disagree with their opinions or positions, besides

the foolishness of those big mouths and their limited minds, as

they have been harming the harmonious relations among

Islamic sects with their unbridled statements and speeches that

aim to purposely, vulgarly, unduly and unwarrantedly defame

symbols and figures respected by other doctrines. This is being

exploited by the ill-intentioned and cheap media to raise noise,

and probably strife, as a result of abnormal words that only

those who utter should be held responsible for their consequences.

Therefore, everyone very positively received and appreciated

the fatwas by the Ulama who safeguard the Muslims’

unity as they (the Ulama) prohibited any abuse or insult of symbols

and figures that are respected by Islamic sects. These fatwas

do confirm the line drawn by Ahlul-Bait (AS) Imams in this

direction that was followed by the scholars of their honorable

faith. We greatly hope that the rules that lead to the best relations

amongst Muslims of all sects are respected by all Ulamas

and their followers.

DEAR READER

And at last… All the institutions working in the mass media sector have signed a voluntary pact of honor that prohibits the publishing or broadcasting of any violent or licentious scene.

This pact that was sponsored by the Ministry of Information was concluded after most of these firms whether newspapers, radio or television stations have reached an precedent level of aggression against the family morals and those of the younger generations, filling their minds and senses with everything that stimulates their animal instincts and arouses the spirit of evil and aggression and undermines their values and virtues.

Thus, this limited step is but a belated response to the resentment of the public and the demands of many religious and social organizations, as well as the morally and religiously committed institutions, including our magazine which has continuously raised this issue… But as we wait to see the effects of this pact, although what we have so far seen is discouraging, we feel that we ought to point out that we cannot rely on this partial step.

For there is a big difference between the concepts and standards through which most of those who signed the pact view the issue of morals and between those who adhere to the noble values and virtues…. We should therefore continue to exert every effort to put an end to this moral degradation in our society, and beware of those responsible of creating and encouraging it.

Dear Reader

Once again we find ourselves compelled to talk about the postage problem which has aggravated lately especially with respect to periodical magazines.

Once again, the postal service authority raise the postal rates to an unprecedented or even unbelievable level. How could the postal rates be raised up to 12 times, knowing that its was quite a burden in the first place? Could it be rational that the postage cost alone would exceed the price of our magazine in many countries or only equal to it in the other countries, whose magazine prices are relatively high?

This is exactly what has happened lately, and which constituted a great shock even to the magazines that do not suffer of any financial difficulties.

In this respect, we find ourselves, questioning the fate of the various slogans that we hear about Lebanon being the country of culture spreading and creativity…

Finally we regret to say that we are left with no other means, but to ask you, dear reader, to contribute in carrying some of the burden with us, in case the authorities insist on implementing the new increase. We would like also to express our regret for any inconvenience in the distribution of the last issue this increase may have caused.

ONE OF THE GREATEST MEN IN THIS CENTURY

GOD HAS TAKEN THE HIGEST RELIGIOUS AUTHORITY

IMAM ABU - ELKASSIM ELKHOUIE UNTO HIM

The news left all Muslims all over the world with a deep feeling of sorrow and pain.... The heart of the greatest Ayattullah Imam Abu - Elkassim Elkhouie have stopped…. The heart of the man whose life had given so much to Islam and humanity has stopped. The light that lit the hearts and the minds of generations of religious scholars of his students as well as the minds and souls of millions of believers who regarded him as their highest religious authority was put off.

But, just as imam khouie (may Allah have mercy on him) was an outstanding genius is his jurisdiction and doctrinal achievement he was also, through his firm stands especially in the last period, a symbol of Muslims steadfastness against unprecedented oppression, tyranny and flagrant barbarism.

The imam became a symbol of defying oppression when he was taken in custody and various restrictive and suppressive measures were practiced against his family, his famous religious school, his students and his assistants. But the imam did not show any sign of weakness or submissiveness which led the tyrants to an unprecedented act of vindication: they did not allow his followers to take part in the funeral of aman who was worthy of every form of respect and veneration.

"Noor Al Islam" which was stunned by this great loss, cannot but pray to Allah, the Merciful, to extend His mercy on His obedient servant and raise him to His paradise. We would also wish to extend to our great religious authorities, and to our Islamic nation in general, our warmest condolences, hoping that Allah, the Most Exalted, will bless our nation with the likes of this great Imam who would lead the nation on the path of good and progress.

With the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan- may Allah return it, with our readers and members of our nation able to achieve all that might provide them with success and make them ensure their happiness in this life and in the hereafter - we publish this issue: the first issue in out third year. A year in which we hope to achieve many of our reader's, wishes on the path of serving the Islamic call and enriching the Islamic culture.

But our magazine, like any other one, cannot succeed in achieving its goals, unless it establishes a continuous and permanent link of interaction between her and her writers on the one hand, and its readers on the other hand. In this respect we praise Allah, the most Exalted, for all the sympathy and cooperation we have been receiving from our readers. This was evident, whether by their letters of encouragement, their contributions, or their constructive remarks and criticisms… which we tried our best to apply and act by in this issue as well as the coming issues.

We have added some new departments, the reader's questions and the magazine for example, and we have made some changes in the concept of some other departments and doubled the size of the English section…. Finally, we ought to express our gratitude on behalf of the magazine to the do-gooders, whose support, have enabled the magazine to exist and continue. May Allah reward them with his gracious rewards.
