Имама Хомейни

Ruhullah al-Musawi al-Khomeini was born on September 24, 1902. (Jamadi al-Sani 20, 1320 according to the lunar calendar, Shahrivar 30, 1281 according to the solar calendar) in Khomein, a town in the Central Province of Iran. He was born into an educated family; family from among the descendants of Her Grace the Most Pure Fatima, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (s). Imam Khomeini's father was Ayatollah Sayyid Mustafa Mousavi, a contemporary of the late Grand Ayatollah Mirza Shirazi. After studying for several years at the Holy Najaf Scientific Theological Seminary, where he comprehended Islamic sciences and reached the degree of ijtihad, Imam Khomeini's father returned to Iran and became the patron of the people of Khomein and their mentor in religious matters. When Ruhullah was barely five months old, agents of the former Shah's government of Iran killed his father on the way from Khomein to Arak for that he stood up for justice and opposed their ambitions. The relatives of the father of the future imam went to Tehran (where the seat of government was located at that time) to fulfill the divine law of revenge (qisas) and insisted that the murderer be executed. So from early childhood, Imam Khomeini remained an orphan. His childhood and youth passed under the supervision of the caring and pious mother Banu Hajar, who herself came from an educated and God-fearing family and was the granddaughter of the late Ayatollah Khansari (author of the book “Zubd at-Tasanif”), as well as the noble aunt Sahiba Khanum, brave and truthful woman. However, at the age of 15, Imam Khomeini lost them too.
