A night known as a MUBARAK night in Suratud Dukhan (Baraka meaning getting more than one expected or deserved and that which revives dormant goodness) The name of the sura refers to the revelation of the Qurʼan on The Night of Decree (Laylatul Qadr). The sura emphasises the importance of the night and the blessings therein. It is said that the Qurʼan was revealed as a whole on Laylatul Qadr to the Prophet (pbuh) and then piecemeal as the occasion demanded and as ordered by Allah to be transmitted to the people. The Prophet (pbuh) has said “During Laylatul Qadr, the angels, the spirit, and the trusted scribes all descend to the lower heavens and write down whatever Allah decrees that year, and if Allah wishes to advance something or postpone it or add thereto, He orders the angel to erase it and replace it with whatever He decrees.”
