Muhammad bin Yaqub Kolini known as Shiqah al-Islam Kolini (died: 329 AH), one of the famous Shia muhaddithists and the author of al-Kafi, from the books of Arbaa. He lived during the occultation of Sughra and met some hadith scholars who had heard hadith from Imam Askari (a.s.) or Imam Hadi (a.s.). Ibn Qolwieh, Muhammad bin Ali Majilwieh Qomi, Ahmad bin Muhammad Zarari are among the students of Awain.

Muhammad bin Yaqoob bin Ishaq Kalini Razi was born around the year 255 AH in the village of Kolin in the district of Ray. His father, Yaqub bin Ishaq, was one of the scholars of his era and lived in the minor occult period. Abul Hasan Ali bin Muhammad known as "Alan Razi" is the uncle of Kalini, and Muhammad bin Aqeel Kalini, Ahmad bin Muhammad and Muhammad bin Ahmad are all from the Kalini family and are among Shia scholars and elders.

Muhammad bin Yaqub Kilini was in Ray, which was the center of meeting the opinions and ideas of the Ismaili, Hanafi, Shafi'i and Imami sects, in addition to studying science and familiarizing himself with the thoughts of other religions, he decided that at the request of a friend who asked him to He should write a book that includes all the religious sciences that are necessary and sufficient for an educated person. He should start writing hadiths. He learned hadith in the presence of Abul Hasan Muhammad bin Asadi Kufi. He then went to Qom to complete the science of hadith and met the hadith scholars who had heard from Imam Askari (a.s.) or Imam Hadi (a.s.) directly and benefited from the presence of great masters. ) left for Baghdad. Baghdad was one of the great scientific centers at that time.

Kilini passed away in Baghdad in Sha'ban 329 AH (the year of the creation of astronomy), coinciding with the beginning of the great absence of Imam Zaman (A.S.). And his body was buried near Kufa, Baghdad.

Al-Kafi book
One of the most important works of Kliny is the Book of Enough. According to Sheikh Mofid and Allameh Majlisi, this book is the most comprehensive and the best book among the four books. The Kafi book is composed in three parts: Usul, Faroo and Ruzah. Kliny's effort was to collect al-Kafi hadiths on the basis of not contradicting the Qur'an and agreeing with the consensus. According to Seyyed Ibn Tavus, due to his connection with the companions of the imams and access to the principles of Arba Ma'ah, Kilini narrated the narrations of this book with minimal intermediaries.
