Istifta is a request for the statement of a religious ruling or clarification of inferred issues from a mujtahid Istifta is usually related to requesting a ruling on religious issues and matters, but sometimes Istifta is also done to clarify the issue in derived matters (matters that are invented by the religion, such as prayer, Hajj, and other acts of worship).
